We had a very unusual day at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. We discussed important issues of church culture, history, vision, theology, expectations, Will of God, priorities, and previous pastors. Dr. Leonard Dupree and Dr. Joe Harris led these discussions while members participated. Afterwards, Ebenezer Baptist Church voted on and chose Dr. Dupree as their pastor. We are pleased to have him and his wife Jackie join our church family. We pray God will do great things for Ebenezer and we may do great things for God in the coming years. Welcome, Dr. and Mrs. Dupree. On behalf of the church I would like to thank our pastor search committee for their work during the past year.

Mrs. Keith Standard arrived home Sunday after a two-week stay in Denim Springs, Louisiana. She went especially to see her new granddaughter Isabella. Proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Chris Standard. She was born August 20. Linda also went to be with the family while Mrs. Standard had emergency surgery and baby Isabella had to be admitted to the hospital. We hope both will be well soon. Linda was met in Atlanta by her nephew, Russell Goldman, on Saturday and both came to Washington late Saturday night. Russell spent the night with his mother, Sara Huff. On Sunday after attending church they had dinner with Linda and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips and Chip Haynes went to Greensboro, N.C., to visit her son, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Currie, and Evan. Evan returned home with them for a longer visit. After spending a week with the Phillipses they carried Evan home. Skyla Haynes and mother, Stephanie, visited Evan and Chip at the Phillips home several times during Evan's visit.

Rebecca Phillips was nominated for teacher of the year at Rockdale High School in Conyers. She has been teaching only four years. Congratulations, Becky. She was one of six nominated.

Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Ryll, Connor and Calley, visited Mrs. Lucille Ingram and Truly Ingram Saturday. After swimming they enjoyed supper with Miss Lucille.

Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gaines of Winterville spent Tuesday with me.

Tommy Dunnaway and Sherry Newsome visited Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway last week.

Beverly Adams of Woodstock spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Barbara Adams.

Russell Goldman of Doraville spent the weekend with his mother, Sara Huff.

Cassie Goldman, Mitch and Bryson Taylor spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Deanne Johnson, at Hull.
