Edna Scott Hodges honored at 100th birthday celebration
Mrs. Hodges was crowned "Queen for the Day" by the Life Care Center of Jefferson City who hosted the party in her honor. In addition to a tiara and roses, she was presented a pen denoting her as a member of the Century Club and a letter from President and Mrs. George Bush. Guests enjoyed a wonderful array of party foods including party sandwiches, fruit and vegetable dips, punch and a beautifully decorated 100th birthday cake in yellow and chocolate. Mrs. Hodges resided in Washington as a young bride and mother. She is the sister of Rebecca Scott Echols of Tignall; Mary Jane Scott Pyron of Hampton; and Ruth Scott Childs of Elberton; and sister-in-law of Camilla (Cal Pilotto) Scott of Washington. Her deceased siblings are Charlie Scott, Joe Scott, Sam Scott, Tom Scott and Mattie Scott Callaway of Washington; also, Annie Lou Scott Smith, Fannie Mae Scott Childs, Gladys Scott Childs and Gertrude Scott. For the party she was joined by her four surviving children, Harry and Jeanette Hodges of Jefferson City, Tenn., JoAnn Hodges Seabrook of Candler, N.C., Martha Hodges Toney of Powell, Tenn., Donny and Linda Hodges of Morristown, Tenn., and numerous grandchildren. Other family members who attended the festivities were Fred and Dixie Scott Holt of North Augusta, S.C.; Charlene Scott Street of Appling; Dianne Callaway and Eloise Callaway Wood of Washington.
Mrs. Hodges enjoyed visits on August 20 and 21 with her sisters, Mary Jane Pyron and Rebecca Echols, and brother-in-law, James E. Echols. On August 25 Mrs. Hodges' children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren celebrated with a family outing at a local steakhouse.
