The beautiful flowers Sunday at Phillips Mill Baptist Church were placed in honor of Mrs. Gussie Hardy McAvoy's 93rd birthday by Patricia and Doug Mathews, Jo McNair, Martha and Jimmy Stokley. Her birthday was on Saturday, September 29, and her family treated her with a big family get-together after church Sunday, following The Lord's Supper.

Sunday evening, Phillips Mill folks enjoyed a fifth Sunday night singing beginning with hymns of choice followed by the children's choir special, adult choir special, and solos by Sara Long, Leah Riordan, and special music by Rev. Skip Padgett. The closing hymn was "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus." Thanks to all who attended and had a part in any way.

This coming Sunday, October 7, at Phillips Mill will be conference day. Hopefully all members who are able to attend will put forth an effort to attend. Sunday is also pastor appreciation day in the Georgia Baptist Association.

Don't forget that this Saturday, October 6, is the annual Franklin family reunion at County Line Baptist Church, outside around nice granite tables, beginning at noontime with a covered dish meal. Don't forget to bring folding yard chairs for your family, some of your favorite food, Coca-Cola, tea, etc., a happy smile and good memories.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Carrol Hardy, 68, of Phillips Mill Baptist Church who passed away Monday, September 23, with funeral services at Phillips Mill on Wednesday morning, September 25. He was a nephew of Mrs. Gussie H. McAvoy and related to many in our area.

Children and grandchildren visiting Dan and Mildred McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy recently were Dorothy Ann Saxon, Curtis and Linda McAvoy, and their two granddaughters. ƒAnnie Combs Crook visited a while one day last week with Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell and to show us a magazine carrying a picture of her granddaughter Haley and her husband, Jason Bilotti, and their two children, Charles Hunter, 7 1/2 years old, and Pauline, fiveyears old. They live in Smyrna Vining Cumberland Galleria Vining Estates. The magazine is published in Smyrna and is called "Our Town, Family Life Style." It carried all the estate names over their picture. Haley is the middle daughter of the former Jackie Combs of Washington Wilkes. She met her husband Jason when she was a teenager while working at Chick-Filet. She is a Bible study fellowship leader at Roswell Baptist Church and keeps busy with their kids, running, riding horses, and scrapbooking. Jason has been with Chick-Filet for 21 years and it is the only job he has ever had. He started with the familiar eatery when he was 15, and is now the operator of the Chick-Filet at Northside Parkway and the Vinings Chick-Filet. Jason's hobbies include deer hunting, playing golf, and spending time with his family. The children attend Whitefield Academy and are active in a number of different things. Thanks Annie for sharing.

It was good to read all the nice things said about our Washington- Wilkes Elementary School students and faculty by some 60 visitors who were warmly welcomed from Macon State College as they were greeted in pictures of fifth graders. I was reading names under pictures and did not notice that one of the visitors was talking to Dalton Cordell, a good friend of our grandson Tyler, and overlooked Tyler sitting at the same table with his head down. Of course his mother noticed him right off and was so excited to show her mother whose eyes are much older than hers.

Belated happy birthday wishes to Mrs. Gussie H. McAvoy, 93. Mrs. McAvoy's daughter-in-law, Mary Jane, carried her to visit several dear friends recently including Eunice Mansfieldand Mary Nell Denard. They were excited to see each other.

It is said that everyone has patience. Successful people learn to use it. I learned long time ago that my job is to take care of the possible and trust God with the impossible. I believe God never puts anyone in a place too small to grow. It's up to us to do the best we can at any age.

Remember, God loves you.
