They rode across Europa Bridge to the Brenner Pass into Italy and to Venice. Here they took a canal cruise by private launch to St. Mark's Square and viewed the Bridge of Sighs, Doges' Palace, and St. Mark's Basilica, and saw the ancient craft of Venetian glassblowing. They traveled through the Tuscany Valley and viewed the many grape vineyards and olive trees. In Florence they toured St. Mary's Cathedral, the Santa Croce Basilica, and viewed the many old buildings. From there they traveled into Switzerland to Lucerne. Here they viewed the famous Lion Monument. They walked across the famous Chapel Bridge to Jesuit Church. They traveled by cable car and cog railway up Mount Pilatus for breathtaking views of the Alpines and valleys below and took a private cruise around Lake Lucerne to see the many homes of famous people. They enjoyed a cheese fondue lunch with a folklore show of Alpine horn blowing, flagthrowing and yodeling. Here they wished Carolyn Gammon was along because she tried to yodel when she was a child! From Switzerland they traveled through the Burgundy wine country to Paris, France. They enjoyed seeing the Notre Dame Cathedral and so many great monuments including the three Statues of Liberty monuments. They viewed the Arc de Triomphe, the Place de la Concorde, and the Champs Elysees. They traveled up the famous Eiffel Tower for a beautiful view of Paris. They toured the Luzembourg Gardens and traveled through the tunnel where Princess Diana was killed, to the Versailles Palace and Gardens. This was the most beautiful garden they had ever seen.
They experienced the most awful driving traffic in Paris that made them appreciate Atlanta traffic and returned home to the most beautiful place on earth -- Wilkes County.
