Beaverdam Baptist Church celebrated for two reasons Sunday. It was designated as pastor appreciation day. Rev. and Mrs. John McMillian were asked to stand at the front of the church as the chairman of the deacons, Richard Byrd, presented them a token of appreciation -- a gift certificateto the Home Cafe. They received handshakes and hugs from members present. A covered dish fellowship meal was enjoyed afterwards. The other reason was that Richard Byrd was able to again drive to church. He and Mrs. Byrd had attended last Sunday but were brought to the church by Marie Maxwell and her mother, Rosie.

She enjoyed the fellowship with the pastor and his wife, Rev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome, and the Sardis church family and friends. She says there's no place like home in Rayle.
