The Georgia Department of Transportation will hold an open house in Tignall next week to discuss the widening of State Route 17 from Elberton to Washington.

The open house, set for Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tignall Community Gymnasium on Independence Street in Tignall, will offer information on the Wilkes County portion of the widening project. It is open to the public.

Georgia DOT engineers will be available at the meeting to discuss the proposed changes to Highway 17.

A similar meeting will be held in Elbert County for the Elbert portion of the highway.

After the open house, the displays of the Wilkes County portion of the work will be available for public viewing at the DOT Area Office located at 4260 Frontage Road, Augusta.
