Georgia State School Superintendent Kathy Cox (center) visited Washington-Wilkes Middle School last week, escorted by (from left) Wilkes School Superintendent Joyce Williams, Principal Bill Pendrey, (Cox), Assistant Principal Dee Lee, and Wilkes County Director of Curriculum Marie Echols. Cox visited classrooms to observe teachers in action, including W-WMS Teacher of the Year Michelle Smith. She also visited four classrooms in the high school. She spoke to teachers assembled at the end of the day, and congratulated them for their accomplishments and encouraged them in their efforts to teach Wilkes County's children.
