Doris Ashmore Goolsby

Funeral services for Doris Ashmore Goolsby, 88, of Lincolnton were held Sunday, October 7, 2007, at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Paul C. Reviere officiating. Interment was in New Hope Church Cemetery. She died Tuesday, October 2, at the home of her son, Dempsey Goolsby of Marietta.

Mrs. Goolsby was the daughter of the late Rogert L. Ashmore and the late Kate Burgess Ashmore. She was the widow of Ralph Goolsby. She attended Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ira Dempsey Goolsby of Marietta, and R. Payton Goolsby of Hartwell; a daughter, Beverly Goolsby Bentley of Evans; four sisters, Irene Tankersley and Mable Edmunds of Lincolnton, Katrina Newby of McCormick, S.C., and Linda Guin of Tignall; two brothers, Rev. Pierce Ashmore of Gainesville and Robert Ashmore of Lincolnton; fivegrandchildren, Ben E. Bentley Jr., Beverly Ann Bentley McCrary, Brian G. Bentley, Ashley N. Goolsby, and Danielle D. Goolsby; a step-grandson, Max A. Johnson; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Ben E. Bentley Jr., Brian G. Bentley, Robert E. McCrary, Max A. Johnson, Darrell Newby, and Steve Ashmore.
