Evelyn Danner grows bumper crop of moonflowers
The beautiful moonflowersopen in the evenings around six o'clock so that night-flying moths can pollinate them. The moonflowercan open in a matter of minutes on a warm summer night. The petals die in the morning after they open. Mrs. Danner says she enjoys working in her yard, including planting and caring for flowers, mowing the lawn, and weeding in her flower garden.
She began vegetable gardening as a young child and has continued her passion as a hobby through flower gardening as a senior citizen. She makes her home in the Aonia community of Wilkes County.
