Third-graders get Kiwanis dictionaries
Kiwanian Carl Luken passes out dictionaries to third-graders at Washington-Wilkes Primary School as members of the Washington Kiwanis Club celebrated the birthday of Noah Webster, creator of America's dictionary, this week. Each student was presented with a dictionary which contained a bookplate, hand-inscribed with the student's name and the date of the presentation," Kiwanis President Bill Steed said. Washington-Wilkes Primary School Principal Dr. Rosemary Caddell introduced the Kiwanians and thanked them for the dictionaries. "Our children just devour these dictionaries," she said. "Tomorrow I'll see them getting off the school bus with their noses buried in them."
