HOSA officersattend leadership conference at Jekyll Island Center

The officersof Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School attended the annual Georgia HOSA Fall Leadership Conference in Jekyll Island October 12-14.

Over 900 students from across Georgia met in the Jekyll Island Convention Center and were welcomed by the Georgia State HOSA president, Jordanna Lundgren. Scott Carey, Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) state director also welcomed the students and added special comments.

During the opening ceremonies, students heard from the keynote speaker, Bryan Fiese, about the importance of effective leadership. Fiese, who is also a hypnotist, demonstrated the power of the subconscious mind.

On day two of the conference the students attended leadership workshops. Workshops included: Teamwork - The Key to Success in Health Care Occupations; Communicating for Positive Results; and Personality Profile/Team Dynamics. After the workshops, students were treated to the afternoon at Summer Waves Water Park.

Closing Session and Adjournment of Conference Saturday night was followed by a HOSA dance.
