General talks about Medal of Honor
Major General Perry M. Smith USAF (Ret) PhD, of Augusta, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Wasington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, October 23. General Smith, editor of the best selling book "Medal of Honor" and secretary of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, presented a program entitled "The History of the Medal of Honor." General Smith gave a history of the Medal of Honor and described a number of individual actions of current living and deceased recipients. He told the heroic story of Jimmy Dyess of Augusta - the only recipient of both the Carnegie Medal and the Medal of Honor. Mark Waters (left) was the program host for the day.
