Abby Aaron awarded nursing scholarship by Ga. Baptist Assoc.

ABBY AARON
Abigail (Abby) Amanda Aaron of Tignall received the Ann Corbett Nursing Scholarship at the 223rd annual meeting of the Georgia Baptist Association Tuesday, October 23. The meeting was held at the County Line Baptist Church near Rayle.

The scholarship was established last year by Fred Corbett in memory of his wife Ann who was a nurse in Wilkes County for many years at the Wilkes County Health Department and other medical facilities in Wilkes County.

Abby Aaron is the first person to receive the $1,000 scholarship. She is a 2005 honor graduate of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School. She has completed two years of study at Augusta State University and is now enrolled in the Medical College of Georgia's Bachelor of Nursing Program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Registered Nurse degrees.

She hopes to graduate in May 2009. She is a member of the Mallorysville Baptist Church near Tignall, and was recommended for this scholarship by her pastor, Rev. Donnie Berry. She is the daughter of Janet Aaron of Tignall.

An endowment has been made with the Georgia Baptist Foundation so that this scholarship can be made annually at the meeting of the Georgia Baptist Association in October.
