Happy birthday Saturday, October 27, to three special ladies of our area that I know of, which I think are a gift from God. They are Julia Nell Callaway Poss, Kathryn Padgett, and Alice Thornton.

There are several things coming up in our Georgia Baptist Association in the next few weeks, beginning with the 28th annual meeting of the PenfieldChristian Home on Saturday, November 3. Then on Monday, November 5, Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer will be held at the Mission Center in Washington at 12 noon and 6:30 p.m., followed by the Lottie Moon Missions Banquet at the Crawfordville Baptist Church that Thursday at 6:30 p.m. That's November 8. For more information please call the Mission Center at 706-678-7381.

The Georgia Baptist Association is also encouraging all churches of the Association and interested friends to take part in Operation Christmas Child, known as Samaritan's Purse. The collection week is November 12-19. This is filling shoe boxes for a boy or girl and $5.00 for shipping each box. They ask that no war-related items, liquid or things that will melt be placed in the boxes. This has been a wonderful ministry over the years. You may pick up resources at the Mission Center.

Gloria Hardy, who had foot surgery some time ago, recently had surgery on her other foot and is doing well as can be expected. Among visitors have been cousins, Bud and Betty Thornton of Union Point, and Lisa Thornton, also of Union Point. She appreciates your prayers and phone calls.

Virginia Stevens Hunter received some good new last week from her cancer doctor in Augusta. She does not have to go back for any more treatments. However, they will keep in touch for check-ups. Of course she is bubbling with praise and said this year's birthday on October 12 was he best one in several years. Her many friends and relatives join in singing His praises with her.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy continue to appreciate and praise the Lord for each act of kindness shown them. It is truly amazing how their son Jerry holds out. Visiting during the week and weekend were Jimmy and Dorothy Ann Saxon, Billy McAvoy, and Mary Hawes. ƒTrick-or-treating is coming up. I hope parents will think twice as to how far you go. You might need to call ahead. For many years I looked forward to having little children come by, but it got way out of hand with teenagers taking over with no respect. So go with your child.

Remember. God loves you.
