Many families are still having reunions. Attending the Ruff family reunion in Elbert County on the weekend of October 14 were Louise and Darden Denard, Tammy and Danny Price, Deborah Prince, and Robert O'Shields.

Attending the Waters family reunion at the homeplace of the late Frank Waters in Thomson were John and Nonie Yochim, Michelle and Charlie McAvoy, Trey McAvoy, Aubrey and Blake Davis. There were about 50 family members attending. ƒWe have a few people celebrating birthdays. Birthdays are so much fun as long as you are young. When you are young, they don't come around as often.

Donald and Peggy Ware attended a surprise 40th birthday party for Mike Martin of Lincolnton Saturday night.

On Thursday, October 18, Donald and Peggy Ware hosted a birthday party for their daughter-in-law, Kathy Ware, with a lasagna supper. Cake and ice cream were also served. Joining them for the party were Scott and Stacey Ware, Karen and Price Rogers of Evans, and Mike Martin of Lincolnton.

Last Friday night there was a surprise 38th birthday party for Rev. Mike Stein, pastor of the Wilkes County Baptist Church, at the home of Ricky and Wanda Cox. Mike Stein is a big Georgia Bulldog fan so the highlight of the party was the University of Georgia birthday cake. A large crowd helped him celebrate his birthday.

The Wilkes County Baptist Church held its fall festival at the church Saturday night. It was a real success with a large turnout.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Keener spent last week at a resort in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for a relaxing vacation.

Spending Wednesday, October 17, with Myrline Thornton was Mrs. Ted Hudson of Monticello.

Rev. Dale Fincher attended an ordination service for Heath Perry in Alabama on Sunday. Heath was a teenager in the Pisgah Baptist Church in Rome where Dale was pastor for several years. In the absence of Dale, Rev. Albert Huyck filled in on Sunday at Tignall Baptist Church.

We are sorry to hear that J.P. Dobson is in critical condition at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Let's keep him in our prayers. Let's also keep Carol McTier in our prayers. We understand that she had a light heart attack last weekend.

Traveling to Blue Ridge for the day Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gammon and Mr. and Mrs. John Yochim. They found that the leaves were not as colorful as in the past and thought maybe the dry weather had something to do with that.

Beulah Baptist Church had a very successful yard sale at the church Saturday. They appreciate all their customers. The Beulah Fire Department also had a successful day. They completely sold out of barbecue.

There was a baby shower Sunday afternoon at Beulah Baptist Church for Natoshia Bacino.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rhodes Jr. spent the weekend in their Beulah home.

Pat Mack and Sara Frances Henderson spent Tuesday night with Frances and Chris Johnson in North Augusta.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gammon have just returned from a trip to Southern Italy where they spent seven days touring this beautiful country along with 48 other travelers. When the group returned to the Atlanta airport they all gravitated to good old American food -- hot dogs and hamburgers. Most of these tourists were from Wilkes County. This was a Celtic tour with Nita Riley. The tour is written up in the paper elsewhere, but we must say, the Gammons will have great memories of this enjoyable vacation. They brought back souvenirs to their three grandchildren, but could have saved their money. The children liked the rocks they picked up on the beach behind their hotel better than they did the souvenirs they spent money on.
