Barner Paul Gartrell Graveside services for Barner Paul Gartrell, 83, were held Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Black Rock AME Church, Tignall. He died Friday, October 19. Mr. Gartrell was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late George Green and he late Rosa Wellmaker Gartrell. He was a member of Black Rock AME Church where he had served as a trustee. Survivors include his wife, Othello Wilkinson Gartrell; four children, Barner Gartrell Jr., Decatur, Irene Adams, Washington, Joan G. Rooks, Fayetteville, and Rufus Pierre, Washington; 10 grandchildren, Carlos Adams, Paula Hill, Tobias Gartrell, Neal Adams, Cory Gartrell, Keith Rooks, Angel Adams, Alyssa Rooks, Alysia Gartrell, and Jason Gartrell; three great-grandchildren; three god-children; fivegod-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers included Roger Wilkinson, Norris Wilkinson, Dick Wilkinson, Marvin Wilkinson, Roger Lee Wilkinson, and Larry Andrews.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
