Christmas parade planned for Dec. 9 through downtown

The Washington-Wilkes Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday, December 9, at 3 p.m.

The parade will line up at the Pope Conference Center on Lexington Avenue, and proceed through Downtown Washington to the Washington Wilkes Elementary School on East Street just off East Robert Toombs Avenue.

The parade committee is looking for entrants. Some suggestions are antique and midget cars, motorcycles, and of course, floats. There is a need of participation from churches, civic groups, youth groups, and sports as well as dance teams and clubs.

The entrance fee is $5.00 per group or organization and all of the proceeds will be given to the Washington Shriners.

Intereseted persons should contact Ronnie Huffman at 706-678-1210 or Blake Thompson at 319-2237.
