Praise God from whom the blessing of rain flowed down to us Wednesday night. .Sardis Baptist Church's Christmas play practice will be held every Sunday. Any child or youth who would like to be in this play should call Monica Gunter at 706-274-3808 or Denise Armour at 706-274-3208. Practice starts at 6 p.m. each Sunday evening. .Rev. Jim Newsome brought a special message Sunday morning on "Being Thankful," from Deuteronomy 26:1-11. Pam Hall was pianist with Monica Gunter leading the congregation in the singing of beautiful old time hymns. The pastor gave the children an informative message at the altar after which they went to the annex for children's church and nursery with Cody Armour and Taylor Echols who was a visitor. Sunday evening service was at 7 p.m. Sunday School is held at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. every Sunday. There will be no evening service at Sardis Sunday, November 25. Rev. Newsome welcomes everyone to all of these services. .A pork and stew barbecue benefit for Joyce Bowen will be at Poss Umm Cafe Saturday, December 1. Zachery Frankel of Crawford spent Saturday night with his grandparents, Clyde and Sandy Whittington. Bryce Frankel joined Zachery and his grandparents for the day Sunday. .David and Frances Ogletree and Dan and Delores Hardy attended the funeral of their niece, Barbara Hardy, last Wednesday in Stockbridge. Barbara was the daughter of Cecil and Frances Cosby Hardy of Stockbridge. .Shirley Chafin,Peggy Shockley and Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed attending the singing by the Keslers at Pentecost Chapel Sunday evening. .J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to Athens Monday morning for J.W.'s appointment with the doctor at the veterans clinic. On their way home they stopped for breakfast at Country Cooking in Arnoldsville.
