Happiness comes when we stop wailing about the troubles we have and offer thanks for all the troubles we don't have. I'm so thankful that we have Thanksgiving holidays. It gives us the opportunity for getting families together. Of course many of us have to start diets the day after to get ready for the Christmas get-togethers. Isn't it nice that traditions continue from generation to generation. I am now making my mother's potato souffle which I had never tried until she was gone. .Stores need to be careful with their displays . . . they may be in our way. While Christmas shopping last Thursday, I walked into Baby Gap where there was an apple crate with a boy mannequin in the crate and Christmas tree next to that. My foot got caught in a part of the crate, so I fell into the crate, knocked the dummy out of the crate and shook up the tree. I sat there in that crate and looked around to see who saw me and thank goodness there was no one around except my sister, Kay Tyler, and she is used to my actions. It's much safer to shop from the computer. .Dave and Beverly Garrett Barney of Concord, Massachuse6ts, have been visiting a few days at the Garrett homeplace. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Keener Sunday afternoon. .Leon and Linda Aycock and Otis and Pat Callaway attended the heifer show in Lexington Saturday and saw their grandson, Greg Callaway, win the grand champion in his class. On Sunday Layton and Gloria attended church at Raytown Baptist for the baptism of Layton's brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sue Harris. Not only was there a baptismal service but also a dedication service for the new annex of Raytown Baptist Church. .The Women's Friends of Faith prayer group at Mallorysville Baptist Church met Sunday and watched the movie,
Facing the Giants. Next week the ladies will start their Bible study called "Facing Your Giant" by Max Lucaida. They finished the Operation Christmas shoe boxes Sunday night and got them ready to send off. . Hunter Safrit and Jared Wilson spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Wilson. . Johnny Smallwood, brother of Peggy Ware and Mary Ann Williams, had a kidney transplant last Thursday at Emory. Donald and Peggy Ware and Mary Ann Williams went up Thursday for the surgery. We are glad to hear he is doing well. .We are sorry to hear that Brenda Truitt's sister Reba of Arnoldsville last everything she had in a fireover the weekend. .Our prayers need to include Margie Wilson who had a fall over the weekend. As of now she is at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta. .Tony and Marion Hammond had grandchildren visiting over the weekend. Lola and Makayla Hammond, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hammond of Crawford, spent the weekend with them. Brock spent the night Friday and Camden joined them all for the day Saturday. Brock and Camden are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Marc Hammond. I'm sure there was lots of action going on at the Hammond home. .Myrline Thornton joined her daughter, Mary Jacobs, and took a trip to Monticello, Florida, to visit Myrline's grandson and family, Jason and Nicole Jacobs, and new baby Rhett. They visited the family from Thursday through Monday of last week. .O'Neal and Celeste Adams went to Monroe and helped their little granddaughter, Abby Range, celebrate her second birthday. She is the daughter of Billy and Amanda Range. There were about 50 people at the party that she shared with a friend who also had a birthday. .Saturday, November 24, the youth of Tignall Baptist Church will be traveling to Augusta to shop for their Angel for the Angel Tree and enjoy laser tag afterwards. .We welcome our new Director of Missions, Rev. There was a reception for him and his family last Sunday at the Georgia Baptist Mission Center. .Beulah Baptist Church and Tabor Baptist Church had a joint Thanksgiving dinner Sunday night. .We still have some of the

We are happy to learn that the Washington-Wilkes High School Band and Heather Smallwood's gymnastics group will be in the parade this year. Let's make this the best parade ever. Remember this is the only Christmas parade in our county. .I found out that an ostrich sticks his head in the sand looking for water and all the time I thought they were just shy. Maybe we need some ostriches around searching for water for us. Let's pray that we have rain soon.
