Miss Fannie' speaks to Woman's Club members on November 12

Elaine Filipiak presented the program at the luncheon meeting of the Woman's Club of Washington Monday, November 12, at the clubhouse.

Mrs. Filipiak, introduced by Ashley Barnett, told about her character, Miss Fannie, her tours and efforts to bring visitors to Washington. She hosts both day tours and the evening ghost tours.

Prior to her program Vivian Walker, president, called the meeting to order and welcomed guest, Mildred Steed, and new members, Dana Kibbey, Dackie Callaway and Rachel Armour.

She also recognized hostesses, Susan Branan, Melissa Grant, Bunny Gunby and Paula Butts, who decorated the clubhouse in a fall theme using pumpkins and other harvest items. In addition, members enjoyed two beautiful fall arrangements shared by Dean Mansfieldthat were used at her birthday celebration the day before.

Mrs. Butts, chaplain, led the Pledge to the Flag, read Psalm 100 for her devotional, and offered the prayer for the luncheon.

After the delicious luncheon and program, a short business meeting was held. Donna Hardy spoke to the club about members assisting the men at the pre-release prison in being able to provide a gift for their family. The club voted to be a part of this project. They also made donation to the Angel Tree project and were reminded to bring Christmas gifts for Wilkes Health Care residents to the next meeting.

It was also reported that the recent bake sale was a success.
