Joseph Chester Howard Graveside services for Joseph Chester Howard of Washington were held Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Bill Boyd officiating. He died Thursday, November 22, at University Hospital, Augusta. Mr. Howard was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Leonard S. Howard and Willie Belle Tanner Howard. He was a heavy machine operator and a beef cattle farmer. He was a member of the Ficklen Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Moody Howard of Washington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Bob Pickens, Washington, and Beth and Will Boyd, Spartanburg, S.C.; two sisters, Beneva Link, Savannah, and Edith Harper, Rayle; four grandchildren, Robert Wilder, Kasey Maddox, Trey Boyd, and Graham Boyd; and three greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers included Michael Howard, John Link, Jimmy Wilkes, Hal Howard, Tommy Howard, and Trey Boyd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ficklen Presbyterian Church, c/o Gene Stevens, 4050 Sharon Road, Washington 30673.
Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
