Children learn the joy of giving at FBC's Breakfast with Santa

Rev. Chris Townsend gets to play Santa's helper by delivering toys collected at the annual Breakfast with Santa at the First Baptist Church. While Santa uses eight reindeer and a sleigh, Rev. Townsend prefers one Mustang for his sleigh.
The Fun in the Son Children's Ministry of the First Baptist Church, Washington, sponsored the annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 1, in the Mary Callaway Burton Fellowship Hall.

For the past four years the children have brought toys to give to Santa to help with his local deliveries.

"We want the children to learn about the joy of giving and not always receiving something in return," said Rev. Chris Townsend, Minister to Students at First Baptist. "Christmas is called the season of giving, but really it should just remind us of how we should look for ways to give year round," he said.

The toys collected at the breakfast will go to the Toys for Tots program sponsored by the Washington Police Department. Donations may be made through December 19.

The children enjoyed a breakfast of sausage biscuits, cinnamon rolls, fruit, milk and orange juice. Pictures of each child were made with Santa who reminded them that Christmas is Jesus' birthday, and we should never forget that.
