An old Scrooge lives at the Gammon house. He complains every year when he has to bring in their two Christmas trees. He doesn't think they need a tree at all, but every year Carolyn says, "We are going to have two trees!" It is fun decorating, but no fun to put up after Christmas. .Speaking of decorating. Tignall's Christmas decorations are looking good and there is a new flagflying at the old school grounds on Independence Street. Also there are plans to keep the Tignall Library and Museum open daily maybe starting in January. Sherry Bowers and Becky Dixon have been hard at work spiffing up the library. There are big plans for this historical place that many people old and young will enjoy. The North Wilkes Steering Committee is planning to have the gazebo rebuilt hopefully before the next fall festival. Things are coming together with pride for our community. . OOPS! The Tignall Christmas parade is not the only parade in the county. Washington decided to have a parade this year. I'm glad because parades mean a lot to children -- and adults too. Some adults need to practice throwing candy before the parade. We know that we shouldn't throw the candy too hard because we could knock someone out with that hard candy, but some throw the candy and it goes into the drain on the street and sometimes it hits the side mirror and comes back inside the car. It does take practice. .Myrline Thornton spent Thanksgiving at Fripp Island, S.C., with her family. Myrline's daughter and her husband, Mary and Rudy Jacobs, hosted the family gathering at their place at Fripp Island. Joining them besides Myrline were Jerry Thornton, Jason, Nicole, and Rhett Jacobs of Monticello, Florida, and Ila Jacobs of Macon. They enjoyed fellowship together and touring Charleston, S.C. .Visiting Sara Frances Henderson Friday night were Brian Henderson and Dylan Whittle of Beech Island. They brought Sara Frances a Christmas tree. Visiting on Sunday were Chris and Frances Johnson of North Augusta. .Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Keener visited Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas in Asheville, N.C., over the weekend. They enjoyed going to the Grove Park Inn and the Biltmore House. They were all decorated for Christmas. The Biltmore House had 100 Christmas trees and over 1,000 wreaths. They had lunch at the Grove Park Inn where they saw the winning gingerbread houses that were all encased in glass. The winner was a beautiful three-story Victorian house. Of course, the city of Asheville is beautiful any time of the year. .J.C. and Vernilla Clark enjoyed a two week stay with their son and his family, Ricardo and Shannon Clark, and grandchildren, Jaden and Christian in Phoenix, Arizona. The highlight of their trip was when they went to swimming class with fouryear old Jaden and saw him swim. This was at the Gold Medal Swim- ming Club. J.C. and Vernilla were given shirts with "Grandparents Keep Kids Afloat" on the front. They just returned home Sunday night. Vernilla said they saw some beautiful snow on their flight home. .Those from this area attending an Alpha Theta meeting in Lincolnton at the Assembly of God were Debbie Lindsey and Carolyn Gammon. They enjoyed their annual Christmas auction where the funds go toward a teacher scholarship. Debbie and Carolyn were actually the auctioneers. .Don't forget the big yard sale at Beulah Baptist Church on Friday, December 7, and Saturday, December 8, at 8 a.m. both days at the church Family Life Center. .Beulah Baptist Church was glad to have the Georgia Baptist Association Missionary, Andy Perryman, to preach Sunday morning. .Coming up Sunday, December 9, at the Tignall Baptist Church is a baby shower for Gretchen Lamar. The shower takes place from 2 until 3:30 p.m. All ladies of the church are invited. .Don't forget movie night at the Tignall Baptist Church is Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. The movie, "The Nativity," is sponsored by the youth department. Concessions will be provided. .Tignall Baptist Church was blessed Sunday with Shelby Edmunds singing "O, Holy Night." She has the most beautiful voice and received a standing ovation. .Members or Mallorysville Baptist Church met at the church at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon and decorated the church and their Christmas tree. The men of the church then cooked sausage and pancakes for everyone there. .Rob Aycock of Cincinnati, Ohio, spent from Tuesday, November 20, through Saturday, November 24, with his parents, Leon and Linda Aycock. On Friday, Leon and Linda Aycock, Rob and Dillan Aycock, and Greg Callaway visited with Leon's mom and brother, Grace and Danny Aycock in Lincolnton. .We extend our sincere sympathy to the Dean Ware family.
