Here it is December 2007 already, coming to the end of another year. My! How times seems to flyby. .I would like to wish all having December birthdays a happy birthday. A special birthday wish to Jackie Fain (Mrs. Neill) Echols on Wednesday, December 5; to Morrison Maxwell on Thursday, December 6; and Mary Lucy (Mrs. Pete) Moore on Monday, December 10. .Sincere sympathy to the family of Omer King Jr. who passed away Sunday, November 25, at the age of 85. He was a member of Phillips Mill Baptist Church and son of the late Omer and Frances "Fannie" Ogletree King. He was a brother of Hazel Combs of Phillips Mill who is the last of the King children; and father of Mary Olive Ray and Jane Stitcher and her husband Roy of Washington. . Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Jean (Mrs. Conny) Moore, age 63, of Atlanta who passed away last week. She was a school teacher, grew up at New Salem Baptist Church and met her husband in college. Among relatives attending her funeral in Atlanta Saturday, December 1, was her sister, Rebecca Turner. Mrs. Moore was the youngest of the Stripling family and Mrs. Turner is the oldest. She recently turned 87. .Friends and relatives of Sonny Callaway of Monroe are very sorry to learn that he fell out of a pecan tree in their yard recently, falling 20 or more feet while trying to shake pecans off. His wife Helen was standing nearby and called 911 and a helicopter arrived shortly and carried him to Gwinnett County Medical Center in Lawrenceville. He was unconscious a while and they found a broken collarbone, several broken ribs, and foot damage. At the time of this printing he was more alert. His health was already bad, now the extra pain. Sonny grew up at Phillips Mill Baptist Church, a son of the late Henry and Myrtis Ogletree Callaway. His wife is the former Helen Martin of Lincoln County. They are blessed to have all their children and grandchildren nearby. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated. .Tyler Scarborough enjoyed having one of his school friends, Brandon Saggus, to spend Friday night with him.
