'Night of Lights' to light Washington Wed., Dec. 19

A new category structure will change the way the Iris Garden Club's annual "Night of Lights" lights up the homes of Washington again this year.

The judging will be on Wednesday, December 19, and the deadline for entering is Friday, December 14.

Homeowners within the Washington city limits may call Nobie Keener at 706-285-3232 no later than Friday, December 14, to enter their homes.

This year the Iris Garden Club members have changed the categories, Marcia Paxton said. Rather than traditionally decorated homes being judged in one-story and twostory categories, she said, there will now be a single traditional/historic category, a Christmas/modern category, and a whimsical "Wow!" category.

As in years past, prizes will be $25 for first, $15 for second place, and $10 for third in each category. Entering homeowners are asked to have their house number illuminated to help the judges findtheir locations.

And as always, the garden club encourages homeowners and businesses all over Washington to light up the night with their Christmas lights.
