John Marvin Banks

A memorial service for John Marvin Banks, 75, of Bethany Church Road, Lincolnton, was held Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at the First Assembly of God, Lincolnton, with Rev. Paul C. Reviere and Rev. Lanis Lewis officiating. Interment was at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson. He died Tuesday, November 27.

Mr. Ware was the son of Frances Teasley Banks and the late Roy Banks of Lincolnton. He was a cattle farmer and a school bus driver for the Lincoln County School System for 24 years. He was also a charter member of the First Assembly of God and former owner of Banks Grocery.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Holloway Banks of Lincolnton; a son, John Marvin Banks Jr., and his wife Kathie of Savannah; a daughter, Cristy Banks Ware and her husband Dean of Tignall; four grandchildren, Blake Ware of Washington, Charlton Ware and Gracen Ware of Tignall, and Thomas Shores of Savannah; a brother, Joe Banks of Lincolnton.

Members of the Lincolnton High School Class of 1949 served as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Children's Building Fund, P.O. Box 457, Lincolnton 30817.

Rees Funeral Home of Lincolnton was in charge of arrangements.
