Frances Wheelis Women on Mission members observe Week of Prayer

The Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church met in the Jesse Mercer Chapel for the observance of the Week of Prayer for International Missions Monday evening, December 3.

Melanie Wells welcomed members and presented Teresa Bishop who led the Week of Prayer program. Her topic was "Moldova, Russia - Planting Churches in a Cold Country" with focus on Mel and Nancy Skinner.

Following the program a business meeting followed where mission action plans were made.

Announcements included the Associational Day of Prayer at the Georgia Baptist Association Mission Center on December 13.

Plans were made for the annual Christmas caroling and soup supper on December 17.

Mrs. Bishop led the prayer calendar using Acts 10:17-34 as her scripture and emphasized the 20th verse. Focus was on the mission work in North Africa and the Middle East.

After names of the missionaries were read and those in the community with special needs were given, the meeting adjourned with a closing prayer for these requests.

Present were Melanie Wells, Teresa Bishop, Gail Hunter, Sue Lance, Kay Nelms, Rosemary Hopkins, Gail Stewart, Elizabeth Pope, Julia Palmer, Cheryl Edwards and Nancy Madden.
