Bowman scores 16 in Augusta State Jaguars' bid against Georgia Bulldogs in Athens Monday
Tyrekus (A.J.) Bowman and his Jaguar teammates gave the Georgia Bulldogs "what for" Monday night as they led the scoring and dominated play for most of the 40 minutes they were on the court. But a last-minutes explosive rally by the Dogs turned the tables and UGA came out on top 81-74.
In a game that had been close throughout, Georgia outscored ASU 12-1 in the final three-and-a-half minutes.
Former W-W Tiger Bowman slammed a thunderous dunk (pictured above) just before the turnaround to the delight of a strong contingent of Jaguar fans in Stegeman Coliseum. He pumped in 16 points during the game as radio announcers said his moves were reminiscent of Michael Jordan. Though he was passed up by high school recruiters at UGA, Bulldog coaches got a good look at what they missed.
The loss puts the Jaguars, ranked No. 5 in Division II, at 4-2 on the young season. Next, they will host Paine College on Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
