Wrestlers finish well in weekend tournament

The Washington-Wilkes Tiger varsity wrestling team participated in the King of the Mountains tournament in Hiawassee last weekend and came away with three high finishes.

The two-day 16-team tournament featured 10 Georgia and six North Carolina schools. Several topranked programs and wrestlers from both states were in attendance.

Results for WW were as fol- lows:

Tyson Gilland 140 lbs. 1st place;

John Lovvorn 119 lbs. 3rd place;

Josh Cosby 130 lbs. 4th place.

Rob Lovvorn (112) and Josh McTier (152) each went 3-2 and finished in the top 6. James McAvoy (135) and Axll McCarty (160) each scored wins in their first varsity tournament.

The Tiger varsity and middle school teams wrestled at Madison County in a tri-meet with Madison Coounty and Winder-Barrow Tuesday night but results were not available for this issue. Friday's match against Swainsboro has been rescheduled until after Christmas Holidays.
