FBLA assists with cleanup of Liberty Street Park on Dec. 8

Last Saturday, December 8, the Washington-Wilkes Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America assisted the Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department in cleaning up the Liberty Street Park.

The students worked for two and a half hours performing various jobs, including unwrapping playground equipment, moving rocks, and blowing, raking, and bagging leaves. Members who participated were John Lovvorn, Rob Lovvorn, Josh Cosby, Amber Jordan, Ashley Kearney, Anthony Hearst, Meghan Churning, James Reid, and Lee Hill.

The effort was supervised by FBLA advisors Amy Harkins and Tanya Morgan and W-WPRD Director Pete Gartrell. W-WCHS Assistant Principal Mark Ward also stopped by to check on the progress and assisted with cleaning up the leaves.

The clean-up prepared the park for its grand opening on Tuesday. Thank you to all members who worked hard to give back to their community.
