Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation is conducting giving campaign this month
By Debie Benet

Each year challenges faced by rural hospitals become greater. Wills Memorial Hospital needs your support and this community needs the services that this small but quality medical facility provides.

Without the hospital, the closest emergency medical care would be 30 to 35 miles away and the convenience of having hospitalized loved ones nearby would cease. Lost outpatient services provided locally would mean longer drives to other facilities out of town.

Once again the Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation is conducting its Annual Giving Campaign during the month of December. The focus of these annual campaigns is to assist with improvements that directly or indirectly improve patient care at the hospital.

The community's generous donations during the past few years have made it possible to update lab equipment with a state of the art microscope and purchase a centrifuge providing more accurate lab results. Two portable defibrillators, pulse oximeters, and portable suction equipment were also purchased prior to the last accreditation process. The Foundation also has provided a meat slicer for the hospital kitchen and assisted the Auxiliary with funding to complete the renovation of the hospital cafeteria - a facility within the hospital that not only provides food for patients, but for the medical and hospital staff, visitors, and the general public.

Funds from this year's campaign will also be dedicated to improvements at the hospital. Among several projects being considered is an update of the much used Nash Library. This multipurpose room is the only meeting space at Wills Memorial Hospital. It is the site used for the "Lunch and Learn" programs for the public provided by the hospital; it serves as a classroom for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course and as a meeting room for the medical staff; this space is also used for Authority, Foundation, and Auxiliary meetings as well as a workroom for volunteers and a conference room.

Your past contributions have been put to good use and much has been accomplished to enhance our medical facility due to your generosity. Please consider this request again this year.

The Foundation greatly appreciates and expresses thanks in advance for any donations received by December 31, 2007. Contributions may also be made as memorials or honorariums, but all are tax deductible and should be made payable to WMHF, Inc. and mailed to WMHF, Inc.; c/o Steve Albertson CPA; P. O. Box 176; Washington, GA 30673.
