Pharr and Guin are selected to play in District Honor Band

Three Washington-Wilkes Middle School Band students - Whitney Branham, Brittany Guin, and Michael Pharr - auditioned for the Tenth District Honor Band Saturday, December 1.

Michael was selected as second trumpet out of the 16 trumpets that were chosen.

Brittany was selected for first chair alto saxophone, one of four students who received the honor. She also made a perfect score on her scales and tied for the highest sight reading score of the day for saxophones.

"These three students represented our county well," said Band Director Jeff Thomas. "Now Michael and Brittany will go on to participate in the Tenth District Honor Band in February."

This is the second consecutive year that Washington-Wilkes Middle School has had representation in the Tenth District Honor Band.
