We enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend. There has been a lot of sickness around; people with bad colds and sinus problems, bad headaches, and backaches. I hope the warm weather made them feel better. .A lot of parents, grandparents, friends, and relatives attended the annual holiday concert by the Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School and Middle School bands and the middle school chorus. We enjoyed it. .Mrs. Evans Davis visited Mrs. Virginia Witcraft at Raytown several times during the week. .Mr. and Mrs. Scott Blaine visited Mrs. Evans Davis Saturday after- noon. .Our sincere sympathy is extended to Fran and Tommy Thaxton and family in the death of their daughter, Carla Brown. She was a beautiful and talented person. So many friends and relatives attended her funeral at St. James United Methodist Church in Athens and burial at Thaxton-Wynne Cemetery near Rayle on Saturday. .After attending Carla's burial, they were joined by Bob Simmons, who also attended. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Pat Wynne and daughter who live nearby. They later visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Thaxton. .Mrs. Evans Davis visited Mrs. Virginia Witcraft in Raytown several times during the week. .Mrs. Iris Dyson visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer Friday afternoon. .Whitney and Charlie Branham joined other members of Tignall Baptist Church and enjoyed a party at the Ben Long residence in Tignall Sunday night.
