Carla Elizabeth Thaxton Brown A celebration of the life of Carla Elizabeth Thaxton Brown, 33, of Rayle was held Saturday, December 8, 2007, at St. James United Methodist Church, Athens, with Rev. Kent Reynolds officiating. Interment was in the Thaxton-Wynne Cemetery in Rayle. She died Monday, December 3, in Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, after a battle with liver disease. Mrs. Brown was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of Tommy and Fran Thaxton. She was a 1992 graduate of Athens Christian School where she was a solo twirler and drill team captain. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a major in Agricultural Communication and a minor in Animal Science. She was an active member of Student Government, Block and Bridle, Alpha Phi Omega, and AGHON Honor Society. She had a beautiful singing voice and used this talent in many different ways. She was owner of a wedding service business, "A Blissful Day," and was a partner with her dad at Breezy Acres Cattle Farm. Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, William Brooks Brown whom she married on January 18, 2003; a sister, Charlotte Welch of Rayle; grandparents, Pearl Thaxton of Rayle, Mamie Cason of Rayle, and Jackson Arnold Biggers of Covington. Memorials may be made to Piedmont Hospital, Attention Transplant Services, 1968 Peachtree Road NW, 5th Floor, Building 77, Attn: Cynthia Whiteside, Atlanta, GA 30309.
