Stephanie Joy Burrows Norman A graveside memorial service for Stephanie Joy Burrows Norman, 85, was held Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Carter's Grove Baptist Church in Wilkes County. She died Wednesday, November 14, in Youngstown, Ohio. Mrs. Norman was the widow of Carroll E. Norman, a native of Wilkes County, and sister-in-law of the late Claudelle Norman Pettus Bonner of Wilkes County. She was born in Inglewood, New Zealand, to Leslie and Phyllis Clinkscales Burrows. She was an art student before joining the New Zealand Women's Army Corps and serving as an anti-aircraft artillery gunner during World War II. She met her husband while he was in New Zealand on leave during the U.S. Pacific Islands campaign during World War II.
Survivors include four children, Karen Joy Holley of Youngstown, Ohio; Lynette N. Walks of Augusta; Ian Andrew Norman of Charleston, S.C.; and Lillian E. Norman of Youngstown, Ohio; two granddaughters, Carol E. Holliday of Augusta, and Stephanie Stamps of Florence, Ala.; and three greatgrandchildren.
