Adult Bible Searchers class party held at Nelms home December 4 Hummingbird Hill, home of Kay and Pug Nelms in Logan Woods, was algow with holiday lights and decorations as they welcomed members of their Adult Bible Searchers Sunday school class of the First Baptist Church to their annual Christmas fellowship Friday evening, December 4. A festive entry with lighted trees and garlands met guests at the door and inside a profusion of colorful Christmas ball garlands and wreaths, white lights, trees, Santas, clusters, tree toppers, and candles galore added much to the holiday spirit. The pine cupboard was filled with a collection of Santa mugs filled with sprigs of holly. A vintage tree was encircled with Mrs. Nelms' toys from her childhood. Both the dining and breakfast room tables held delicious party foods brought by members. Mrs. Nelms welcomed guests and Bill Bishop offered the blessing before everyone served themselves. After the buffet, all gathered in the spacious den for the annual gift exchange which proved quite hilarious as most of the "useful" gifts were passed around more than once before the last number was called. Following the exchange, Teresa Bishop reading several humorous stories and presented each one present a special gift. Jeff Franklin entertained with his usual "true" stories to the laughter and delight of all. Bill Bishop presented the teachers, Mr. Franklin and Kerry McAvoy, gifts from the class of honorariums to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. At the close of the evening, Jackie Gillispie read the Christmas story from Luke 2 and Mr. Franklin offered a prayer for the true meaning of Christmas.
Present with the Mr. and Mrs. Nelms were Melanie and Tom Wells, Teresa and Bill Bishop, Sharon and Wayne Williamson, Susan and Edward Pope, Jackie and Bill Gillispie, Phyllis and Mike Scarborough, Gail and David Hunter, Louise and David McClearen, Lisa and Jeff Franklin, Nancy and Kerry McAvoy, Angie and Guy Seymour, Dean and Gary Mansfield,Ann and Ira Tiller, and Carol and Lou Harris.
