Irene Patterson Swann

Graveside services for Irene Patterson Swann, 78, of Berkshire Drive, Washington, were held Saturday, December 15, 2007, in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Albert W. Huyck Jr. officiating. She died Wednesday, December 12, at Washington Manor, Washington.

Mrs. Swann was a native of Wilkes County and was the widow of Henry T. Swann Jr. She was the daughter of the late Frazier F. Patterson and Susie Newsome Patterson. She was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church and was an expert seamstress.

Pallbearers included Wesley Price, Dan Coxwell, Willard Lance, Donnie Hunt, Jerry Stover, and Karen Swann.

Survivors include a son, Henry Swann of St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter, Karen Swann of Hartwell; three sisters, EuLee Long, Michigan, Elmyra Chafin,Washington, and Lois Greene, Crawfordville; and a granddaughter, Julie Nicole Swann of St. Augustine, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Washington, P.O. Box 603, or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
