Steve Garrett

A memorial services for Steve Garrett, 56, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Washington, was held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Washington, with Rev. Fran Connell and Rev. Albert W. Huyck Jr. officiating. He died December 5.

Mr. Garrett was a native of Wilkes County and had lived here most of his life. He was the son of the late Hugh Manley Garrett and Edith Newsome Garrett. While living in Clearwater, he was the program director of Peachford Communities.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelley Parker of Wrens; a brother, Julian A. Garrett, Clarkesville; and an aunt, Grace N. Speer, Tampa, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 603, Washington 30673.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
