Davis Langlin Brown christened Nov. 25 at First United Methodist

Davis Langlin Brown
The christening of Davis Langlin Brown, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Thaddaeus Brooks Brown of Martinez, was celebrated Sunday, November 25, during the morning worship service at the First United Methodist Church in Washington. Rev. Gale Seibert of Washington administered the christening rites in the presence of family and friends.

Davis was christened in the christening gown worn by his father at his christening in l977. The gown of white organza featured scalloped lace on the collar, sleeves and hem and was worn over a taffeta slip. Embroidered bouquets of flowers adorned the bodice and skirt of the gown. The gown was bought in Rome, Italy, in l968 by Davis' grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brooks Brown, for Mrs. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Glenn, to be used in the christening of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Special guests for the occasion were Davis' grandparents, Susan Gibson of Augusta and Thomas Brooks Brown of Washington; maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Earl L. Glenn of Danielsville; uncles, aunts and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn D. Brown, Elle and Eli, of Genoa, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Dean B. Sheorn, Ben Shorn and Paul Dixon, of Spartanburg, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Larry N. Glenn of Watkinsville, Mrs. Malinda Matthews of Athens, Mandy McWaters, Meggan McWaters and David Carroll of Winterville.

Following the service grandfather, Brooks Brown, was host for a family luncheon at the Fitzpatrick Hotel.

Davis' maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Winston Hollis, and great-grandparents, Carroll Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Hollis, all of Paragould, Ark., were unable to attend but called to send their love and best wishes to Davis and his family.
