Gresham-Saggus WOM group observes Week of Prayer

The Rhetta Gresham-Terry Bennett Saggus Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church met Thursday afternoon, December 6, for the observance of the Week of Prayer for International Missions.

The ladies met in the beautifully decorated Jesse Mercer Chapel.

Gladys Reese, facilitator, presided and welcomed Catherine Thurmond back after an extended absence.

During the business meeting reports were given by Mabel Johnson and June Chafin,treasurer.

Mission action projects were discussed.

Helen Miller presented the program on the theme "Tell Me the Story of Jesus" and focused on all the area that encompassed Russia. She noted that there are 350 unreached people groups representing over 280,000,000 people in six countries in Central Asia and Central and Eastern Europe that are unreached. The Southern Baptist Convention through its supporting churches is striving to tell the story of Jesus. Mrs. Miller closed her program with prayer for these areas and the people.

Mrs. Reese led the missionary prayer calendar and offered a prayer for the missionaries and those with special concerns in the community.

Present were Catherine Thurmond, June Chafin,Gladys Reese, Helen Miller, and Mabel Johnson.
