We are proud to announce that Carol Bobo Grooms has been awarded System Teacher of the Year for Calhoun City Schools for the year 2008-2009.

Carol grew up in Tignall and graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School in 1971 and West Georgia College in 1975 with a Masters in Early Childhood Education. She has been an educator since 1975 and has taught first and second grades.

She began teaching at Eastside Primary School in 2002 and feels her greatest accomplishment as a teacher has been to see the difference she has made in children's lives. Carol received the Distinguished Community Service and Outstanding Young Educator Award in 1983 and the Outstanding Teacher Award in 1998. In 1999, she was nominated for the Walt Disney Award for Teachers.

Carol Bobo Grooms is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Bobo and is the sister of Graydon Bobo Jr. and Jean Bobo Sayer, and the late Ann Bobo Henderson, who had also been an educator.
