Happy New Year everyone! .Several from Sardis Baptist Church went Christmas caroling Wednesday evening and delivered Christmas bags to the shut-ins. It was a funfilledevening for Rev. Jim Newsome, Karan Newsome, Larry Fleming, Monica Gunter, Meredith and Maddie, Pam Hall, Jessica Murphy, Jasmine and Jeremiah Fry, Denise Armour and Jackson Armour. .The members of the Rayle Lunch and Learn Club met Tuesday at the home of Doris Smathers in the Crossroads community near Tignall for their Christmas meal and gift exchange. When we arrived Doris was busy in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on the turkey, dressing and giblet gravy. She had also made a delicious cranberry salad and homemade rolls. The ladies brought a specialty of their own to add to the country meal which included English peas, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato souffle, squash casserole, pea salad, corn, deviled eggs, pear salad, peach cobbler, Sock it to me cake, red velvet cake, tea and coffee. Afterwards everyone went into the living room where we had a gift exchange, which everyone excitedly opened. Everyone had lots of food, fun, and good Christian fellowship. Doris' home was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Those going were Peggy Echols, Betty Winfrey, Mildred Sisson, Christine Wheatley, Mablean Sherrer, Ann Williamson, Sudie Kennedy, Ruth Flynt, and Bonnie Boatwright. .J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to Athens Wednesday for J.W.'s appointment at the Veterans Clinic. Afterwards they met Frankie Jones of Athens and Martha Jones of Bogart for lunch at the I-Hop Restaurant. . Rubye Armour was surprised on her birthday Tuesday with a party at the home of Tracy and Denise Armour, Justin, Ethan, and Jackson. Joining them for birthday cake, ice cream, and party foods, lots of laughter and fun were Jack Armour, Lyn Armour, John and Jennifer Armour and Mason, Barry and Beth Armour, Britany, Bettina, and Dylan, Greg and Angela, Cody and Hunter, Will and Samantha Callaway. Debra was with her father, Bud Moon, who had surgery that day. He is in our prayers.
