Wrestlers sweep two, prepare for Redskin Rumble
      Last Tuesday, January 15, at Jackson High School, the Washington- Wilkes Tiger Wrestlers swept their competitors in a runaway on one hand and a squeaker on the other. The team cruised to an easy 52-18 win over Crawford County but competition was light.

Waters to be inducted into N. Augusta Hall of Fame
      Charlie Waters, a former Dallas Cowboys strong safety (1970-1982), three-time Pro Bowl player, veteran of two Super Bowl championships, and a former standout at Clemson University, will be inducted as part of the 2008 class to the North Augusta Sports Hall of Fame this Saturday, January 26.

Registration for spring soccer at W-WPRD to begin
      Registration for the Washington- Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department Spring Soccer program will begin January 28, with a final deadline for February 29. No late sign-ups will be accepted. The registration fee is $35.00. Games will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and/or Saturdays. Proof of health insurance must be provided at registration.

Auction at 'Ernie Harwell Day in Washington' will feature personalized autographs on items
      When his hometown of Washington honors Ernie Harwell next month, attendees will be treated to an afternoon of baseball fun and excitement based on Harwell's lifetime of achievement. Beginning with a book signing and autograph session, the event will also feature an auction of baseball and sports memorabilia, celebrity comments, and a response by Harwell himself.
