Dr. Lendado to speak Feb. 10 at New Ford Baptist Church
Historic New Ford Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Black History Program on Sunday, February 10, 2008, beginning at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Tegga Lendado, PhD., a native Ethiopian Christian minister, educator and missionary.
Dr. Lendado accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at age 12. While in college in northern Ethiopia, he accepted the call into the preaching/teaching ministry and has been an active pastor, student, and teacher since 1968 in Ethiopia; Kenya; Mozambique; Geneva, Switzerland; California; South Carolina; Atlanta, Decatur, and Clarkston, Georgia. Over the years, Dr. Lendado has also been employed by the United Nations, World Council of Churches, World Vision International, the Forestry and Wildlife Authority of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as well as the churches he has planted and/or pastored throughout the world.
Dr. Lendado has earned degrees from four separate colleges and graduate schools (three of which are in the United States). He is fluent in Amharic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Wolayita and has taught most of these languages while serving on the faculty of the largest predominantly African American Christian School in the United States.
Presently, Dr. Lendado is a Missionary at-large laboring in Ethiopia, mainly among the poor and hurting. During his message this coming Sunday, in addition to sharing God's Word, he will speak about his vision for the missionary projects he is presently working on. Moreover, he will share some of his knowledge of the presence of black people in the Bible.
