I have decided that Super Bowl Sunday is just another excuse to stuff one's face. I hope you ate lots of that healthy chocolate that all magazines are reporting is so good for you now. Of course, I watch the commercials and skip the game just to see if they can outdo last year's commercials. By the way, who played? . Last Saturday, Albert Huyck joined his siblings, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Huyck of Salisbury, N.C., and Dr. and Mrs. Bill Perry of Statesboro for lunch at the Olive Garden in Augusta. .There were 25 members of the Adult I Sunday School Class of the Wilkes County Baptist Church who had supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Cox. After supper the group enjoyed playing games. .Spending the weekend with William Rhodes were Randy and Karen Rhodes, Taylor and Christopher of Danielsville. .Don't forget the steak supper coming up Saturday night at Beulah Baptist Church at 5 p.m. .We extend sincere sympathy to J.P. Dobson in the death of his sister and brother-in-law. They were James and Coreen Lovinggood of Elberton. James died only 10 days after Coreen. .We also extend sympathy to Mary Sue Heard. Her cousin, Hilda Smith, passed away last week and was buried at Independence Methodist Church Saturday afternoon. .Erin Thornton, daughter of Tracy Lamar Beggs and Jeff Thornton, participated in the Little Miss Lincoln County Pageant Saturday. I don't understand why she didn't win first place. She is a beautiful little girl with a wonderful personality. .Let's hope the Lamar family is on the mend. Ty, one of the new twins of Bruce and Gretchen Lamar, spent last week in the hospital with a respiratory problem. His mother and twin brother Zane had to go along and stay with him. Bruce had pneumonia and Grandma Faye Lamar could hardly talk when I got her on the phone yesterday. She said it was a sinus infection. .Two weeks ago, Phillip and Pam Barnwell and Virginia from Houston, Texas, spent a week with Daisy Parker. They had come especially to be with Dr. Barnwell when he had heart surgery. .Happy birthday Kathryn Anderson! Kathryn's children celebrated Kathryn's 80th birthday Sunday with a dinner at her home. Those present were James and Billie Ann Smith, Linda Oliver of Lexington, S.C., Jamie and Jerry Smith, Shelly and Emmy, Jeff Anderson, Katie Anderson, and Chris Wilson of Statesboro. Her special present was a puppy which is a Chiopsa (part Chihuahua and part Lhasa Apso) whose name is Murphy. She just has another baby in the family now. .Mary Jacobs of Monticello spent the weekend with Myrline Thornton. They were joined Saturday by Alicia Thornton of Athens who brought lunch over for them all. .Congratulations to Nita Riley. She has a new little great-granddaughter, Margaret Posey Cole, born on January 10 to Ruth and Edward Cole of Jacksonville, Fla. She has a big sister, Olivia Butler Cole, who is 2 1/2 years old. .Let's keep Jack Rhodes in our prayers as he goes back and forth to Augusta for treatment. .Many have learned the nice part about living in a small town: When you don't know what you're doing, someone else always does.
