Eddie Chapman
Funeral services for Eddie (Dick) Chapman, 77, Detroit, Michigan, were held Saturday, January 19, 2008, at the True Love Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit with Pastor J. Leonard Jones officiating. He died Monday, January 14.
Mr. Chapman was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Matthew Chapman and the late Vinnie Mae Chapman. He had lived on Butler Street in Washington until he left in 1949 to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by Chrysler Motors Corp. where he retired after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Marks Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit where he was an ordained deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi G. Chapman, Detroit; a daughter, Edith Chapman, Denver, Col.; four grandchildren of Denver; four brothers, Hosea Chapman, Southpoint, Ohio, Claude Chapman, New York City, Matthew Chapman Jr., Newport News, Va., and James Chapman, Augusta; and three sisters, Vinnie M. Graves, Augusta, Thelma Jackson and Barbara Jean Chapman, Detroit.
