Storyteller Donna Washington entertains elementary students

DONNA WASHINGTON Storyteller DONNA WASHINGTON Storyteller Professional Storyteller Donna Washington performed for students at the Washington-Wilkes Elementary School on February 6.

Washington entertained the students and staff with many stories and captivated them through the use of her voice, face, and body movements.

The favorite story of the fourth and fifth grade students was "The Exploding Frog." Pre-Kindergarten students delighted in Washington's rendition of "The Gunny Wolf" story.

The storyteller calls Durham, N.C., her home when she is not traveling to schools, libraries, and festivals across the country. She is not only a performer, but also stays busy giving storytelling workshops, writing books, and recording CDs. Her fourth CD, "The Sword and the Rose," won an iParenting Media 2005 Excellent Product Award, a 2005 Parents' Choice Honor Award, and a 2006 Storytelling World Award.
