Maney presents program at W-W Garden Club meeting

Wilbur Maney of Tignall presented a most interesting program at the Washington-Wilkes Garden Club meeting Thursday, February 14, at the North Wilkes Library in Tignall.

Pat Mack, program chairman, introduced Mr. Maney who presented the program using two topics, "Pruning Trees and Shrubs" and "Tips on Tools for Necessary Pruning." He also added tips for planting and fertilizing. In appreciation for his visit Mr. Maney was presented a thank you gift. He was also asked to make a return visit to the club.

Prior to his program Mary Webster presided and welcomed members and guest. Louise Harper offered an opening prayer after which the group said the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

During the business meeting Mabel Johnson, secretary, and Celeste Adams, treasurer, gave their reports. Members approved numerous donations.

Mrs. Adams was thanked for her work on the new yearbooks.

Announcements included Camellia Day on March 5, at the Thomson Presbyterian Church.

Following the program Mrs. Mack and Edna Rhodes served delicious refreshments.

Present were Celeste Adams, Sophia Bamford, Elaine Boiter, Linda Burns, Paula Butts, Iris Corbett, Carol Daniel, Louise Harper, Mabel Johnson, Edna Lamar, Mary Webster, Elizabeth Smith, Edna Rhodes and Pat Mack.
