TO THE EDITOR:

On behalf of the Shepeard Blood Center and the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, we express our appreciation to those who donated blood at the quarterly drive on February 21. More than 50 persons gave, and this exceeded our quota for the day.

Many asked if the units were designated for the burn victims from the sugar refinery fire. Although some may be used by those patients, these units were to meet the ongoing needs of our region. The need for blood is always greater than the supply in Northeast Georgia.

The next community blood drive is scheduled for May 15. We hope that everyone who is able will participate.
