We were amazed at the charm...'

TO THE EDITOR:

Last week, my wife, Margaret Coker Stone, and I visited Washington for the first time. Our visit was so that we could attend the memorial service for my wife's brother, Charlie Coker.

We were amazed at the charm of Washington. That charm was exceeded only by the loving grace of your people, such people as Ann Hackney of Washington Manor, Bill Rousey of Hopkins Funeral Home, and all the caring people of First Baptist Church.

All in all, Washington has made a lasting impression on my wife and me. Surely, the graciousness and genteel spirit of the "Old South" is alive and well in Washington, Georgia.
